Good Night Sleep Tight Don’t Let the Bed Bugs Bite. It is many years since this phrase was in common circulation and many of the words used in it are open for debate.
These days a bedroom is not simply just a place to sleep or do the other thing. Bedrooms have long become a statement and reflection of the likes and dislikes of their occupants. Works of art, fancy wallpaper, paint colour the type of bed all say something about the owners tastes. Similar to the change in the 60’s and 70’s that occurred around the kitchen, when it became a statement about wealth and taste and the centre of the party. The bedroom is travelling a similar route. These days bedrooms often contain Televisions, Sky or Freeview satellite systems, games consoles and much more. Time is spent in the bedroom on laptops, iPads, Kindles, even the smart phone. It can be a place to escape from the noise of the rest of the house. A calming centre in a busy household. A retreat from the stresses of the daily grind. These days the bed bugs do not often bite and there is little excuse other than a too active mind not to sleep tight. With advances in memory foam, individual sprung mattresses and super warm duvets we are spoilt for choice.
